It’s a great way to give back to the community. whether you’d like to help sick children or animals in need of a forever home, there are several volunteering opportunities in Cincinnati where you can make a great impact.

RMH Cincinnati 

The Ronald McDonald House was established in Philadelphia in 1974. The desire for a program that supported the unique needs of families of critically ill children soon spread to other cities. Today, this nonprofit organization is found around the world.

Here in Cincinnati, the house welcomes 78 families nightly. It strives to provide a sense of normalcy as the children heal, and features a library, outdoor play area, and more.

RMH is always looking for volunteers. Opportunities include shuttle driver, front desk concierge, and kitchen refresher (cleans and stocks the cabinets).

SPCA Cincinnati  

Founded in 1873, SPCA Cincinnati has a long history of helping animals. It offers an array of programs including adoptions, cruelty investigations, and wildlife rescue. It also works to introduce animals to people in hospitals and nursing homes. 

Volunteers contribute to the success of the SPCA, and the cats and dogs benefit immensely from their time and compassion. Assignments include dog walker, humane education instructor, and animal biography writer. 

Cincinnati Zoo

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden strives to create adventure, convey knowledge, and conserve nature. It opened in 1875. A century later, due to its significant architecture in the reptile and elephant houses, it was named a National Historic Landmark. Visitors see animals from around the world, and can also enjoy unique behind-the-scenes experiences.

The zoo relies on a handful of volunteers. In fact, there are nearly 800 volunteers who work to inspire each visitor with wildlife every day! Opportunities include animal enrichment, aviary attendant, and wild encounters.
