For the perfect day out with your furry best friend, Otto Armleder Memorial Park and Recreation Center is a great choice! As one of Cincinnati’s newest parks, this 238-acre recreation area is ideal for playing with your dog, meeting other canine friends, or taking a walk along the Little Miami River and beyond.
10 Acres Just for Dogs!
With ten acres dedicated to dogs, the Armleder Dog Park on Wooster Pike is pooch-heaven! The designers of the park were especially ingenious about providing amenities fit for dogs, including a canine shower and canine drinking fountains. There are also designated off-leash play areas for both large and small breeds!
When you and your dog are done playing, try out the new 1-mile Armleder-Lunken Connector Trail. This newly paved route connects the dog park to the Lunken Airfield Loop which runs 5 miles around the Lunken Airport. With wide paths, plenty of plane watching, and views of the Little Miami River, it is perfect for providing your dog’s daily exercise and your enjoyment. Just be sure to check the weather before going! The Park’s website states: “The Armleder Trail Connection to Lunken is closed when the Ohio River level is at 38 feet. Otto Armleder Park & Recreation Complex closes when the river level is at 42 feet. See the National Weather Service for current and forecasted river levels”.
If you are up for a longer jaunt, the Lunken Airfield Loop connects to the Ohio River Trail and takes you right into Cincinnati. The Ohio River Trail is part of the Ohio to Erie Trail running 320 miles from Cincinnati to Cleveland! So no matter the distance you want to walk, you have plenty of options just by starting out at the Otto Armleder Memorial Park!
